See These 5 Sales Mistakes that Can Sink Your Sales

We all want more sales conversions, but some times we wind up being our own worst enemies in this area. Sales mistakes are easy to make here, and usually irreversible. So in the spirit of continuing to learn the craft of conversion, let's look at how we can avoid making sales mistakes that we can do something about.

5 Sales Mistakes that can kill your conversions

Not listening – Many times people spend far more time talking than listening. This is a big problem in sales calls. Not only do you need to hear what they are saying and decipher exactly what they really want or need, you also don't need to spend a lot of time talking about yourself, as they likely don't care!

Not providing a solution – Focus on providing a solution for the problem the person is looking to solve, rather than selling your product. If you demonstrate how your product or service can solve their most pressing problems, you'll be far more successful.

Be prepared – Take it upon yourself to do your homework, and understand as much as possible about the company and the person you'll be talking to as you can. Check out their website, social media pages and Google the people. This minimizes the chance you'll be blindsided by information you could have easily found out.

Stay focused – While we're all in favor of building rapport and relationship during the sales call, always remember that the clock is ticking, and this is your chance to present your wares. The very last thing you want is for their time to run out, and leave you holding your pitch!

Not asking for the sale – While this might seem to go without saying, all too often it comes across as an afterthought or even worse, is excluded altogether. Be sure to ask if the customer is ready to make a decision, sometimes early in the sales process, or if they would like to learn more. You'll be surprised at how many times a sale can be closed a lot earlier than you might've imagined!
